Memoranda, 1778-1789.

Manuscript, in a single hand, of a notebook of financial transactions on Townsend's farm from 1778 to 1789, as well as other notes concerning farm business. These include purchases of hops, sales of pork and iron, and wages paid to laborers for gardening. He also records his activities on the farm, including planting turnips, killing pigs or putting them to feed, and thatching houses. Townsend also includes notes on other financial transactions, including tuition paid for his daughter to attend school, as well as a memorandum on the death and burial of his father. Following Townsend's entrie are later entries in other hands, dated 1801-1802 and 1839-1845, which include drafts of business letters, and memoranda and records of farm finances.
